An update for FreeMED --- and a bit more

Submitted by irv on Thu, 2008-06-05 23:49

Greetings to all:

I'm sure you've all noticed that we haven't yet released. We are in the process of moving to GWT from Dojo (0.9.0 alpha). There are some additional features with the GWT move and hopefully all the features you've come to love and enjoy with 0.8.4 and others in FreeMED.

If you can help the Foundation

Submitted by irv on Mon, 2008-04-28 18:01

Greetings all:

The Foundation recently upgraded some of its iron (servers) only to discover, of course that other iron was 'rotting' in the computer sense.

If someone out there has rackmount equipment they would be willing to donate to the Foundation, we, the Foundation will give you a letter for tax writeoff.

    What do we need:
  1. Power Rack mount power conditioner/supplies
  2. Servers. 1u or 2u servers, dual processor, 1-4 Gb of ram and preferably hot swap drives. We will consider others, of course, room and power all dependent.

The FreeMED Software Foundation is pleased to announce a donation from Instantiations of Window Builder Pro a Google Web Tools Graphic User Interface builder. This generous donation will help us further our goal of transiting 0.9.x series to GWT.

Thank you Instantiations for your generous gift.

FreeMED in Enterprise Use

Submitted by irv on Tue, 2007-09-04 17:56

Many of our downloads are from larger organizations looking to see if FreeMED has application in the enterprise structure.

We believe that FreeMED is indeed ready for enterprise wide use and distribution. It can be run as standalone or as an ASP. There are projects using both 0.8.x series and now 0.9.x series which function in an ASP model.

Why a NDA and why we need you!

Submitted by irv on Sun, 2007-08-05 11:09

The Foundation has received many inquiries about why an OpenSource project needs both a CLA (Contributor License Agreement) and an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement).

We are a small diversified group with contributors from around the globe. During past releases when we did not request and NDA from our community, adversarial discussions, infighting and attempted code forking during the development phase took away our ability to bring to the community an integrated and useful piece of software.

Now is the time

If you've been waiting for an invitation to help with the newest iteration of FreeMED or wondering how you can help -- W E N E E D Y O U --

We are nearing a pre-release of the 0.9.x series. It is a radical departure from the previous iterations with many more features and abilities.

What can -=I=- do?

Submitted by irv on Wed, 2007-06-20 21:30

Greetings to all of you.

As the Director of the Foundation I'm heartened to see our community support so strong. Each day we get email's from those downloading FreeMED about working with the project. Some have gotten some email regarding participation; others, not yet.

What are the things we need:

  1. We need people to help program. Its coding. You can pick a piece and we'll help you along. People who are team leaders are very much encouraged. Jeff, as Chief Architect, will help you to find what you need.

Donations for FreeMED

Why does the Foundation need funding?

We are a not-for-profit. We hope to do good things. We do have expenses, which are currently covered by our board of trustees and some folks out there.

As we expand our coverage, increase our bandwidth, and try to update servers to meet your needs, we need to fund those changes.

If you are using FreeMED in your practice, remember that it took 1000's of man hours to make that product work, and many more to continue to support it.

In May 2007 we started a new platform at http://euboard.freemedsoftware.org.

This Portal shall help users with Localisation and Internationalisation of FreeMED.

On this page you can find some forums and
many other functions that may help you. We value your input.
Please don't
be irritated by the European direction. This platform is not only for
European users but is established here in the EU.

We invite you to take a look there.
