Still Active? YES!!
I happen to pass by the site and noticed very little activity, and thought this may show a lull in FreeMED development. This however is not true. Those who have shown interest in FreeMED development were invited to a private forum. Thus, most of us don't have time to post twice. Regardless, there has been a flurry of activity on 0.9. A lot of discussion on the user interface has been going on. Much effort is being made in providing the next release of FreeMED to be a user centric application, with what is hoped to be the most intuitive and cohesive interface yet.

module_function :: class "faxcontacts" doesn't exist - when I try to print a Letter
Hi,
I am trying to print a letter and I get a popup with the error module_function :: class "faxcontacts" doesn't exist
Step-by-Step: On hold
It's been a while since the last Step-by-Step, for a multitude of reasons. But my practice integration of FreeMED is currently on hold.
Not currently any fault of the app, I've just gotten to take a look at 0.9.0, and with the HUGE changes to the code (lots of thanks to Jeff). I think we'll wait, continue all we can to the development of .9 and evaluate integration with our current procedures.
I also want to work on a more new user friendly install of FreeMED.
Tasks remaining for 0.9.x series
I'm proud to say that most of the framework elements are in place for the 0.9.x development series, and it's rapidly approaching 0.8.x in terms of stability and easy of interface use. (A lot of this can be attributed to Dr Volker Bradley and his insane attention to detail ...)

Step-by-Step: Migrating Data (needing help)
Well, since my last entry I have been wading through the application and sending questions to the development team. I have been trying to see how our current data will migrate (Advatange Database from other, unnamed practice management system). Using the DB Manager I have exported all the existing tables to .csv files. I'm currently slow going, as with almost no programming experience I have been viewing and modifying the csv files in Open Office spreadsheets, saving back to csv files and then using phpmyadmin to import them.

what is the minimal hardware needed to run FreeMED
Step-by-Step: Evaluation went a little different.
So the evaluation went a little differently then I had planned. Since it was a bit tough getting a handle on all the options of freemed just from poking around the demo site, I decided to jump in and install it on a testing server. I have Ubuntu 6.10, Edgy Eft on a vanilla i386 platform.
All in all install went pretty well. LOOK AT THIS PAGE FIRST!!

Step-By-Step: Evaluation
My own documentation:
This is nothing more then a noob trying to document a transition from proprietary practice management software to OSS, and not only avoid upgrade costs, but more importantly utilize current open source medical grade software solutions.
Evaluation of specific practice requirements
- patient demographics
- patient scheduling
- system connectivity
- resource utilization
